The Comedy

Happy Weed Day everyone! #blazeit #420 #weedlmao

The Comedy isn't just about funny situations, irony or stand-up. The Comedy is more like a classic rom-com.

It's about fate pulling our two protagonists together when everyone and everything seems to prevent it.

Here are it's 3 parts:
  1. The Shadow of Confusion: the two protagonists are introduced and the audience can clearly see they are destined to be together but a lot of confusing stuff happens to them.
  2. It Gets Worse: the confusion is ramped up and they are pushed apart.
  3. The Confusion is Lifted: Whatever problems our protagonists were facing are lifted and they see their fate.

Here are some pop culture examples:
  • She's the Man (also Twelfth Night)
  • Four Weddings and a Funeral
  • Bridget Jones's Diary

The Comedy has a lot more in common with the comedy of errors than with well-timed jokes. This plot's structure is what makes the story funny. As the audience, we see what's really supposed to happen and see how all of the silly characters are just messing up their destiny, and processing confusion.

Compared to other story archetypes, this plotline is much less action related and more situation and emotional. There is no big fight scene, the conflict and drama comes the casual failure to do simple things or dealing with outrageous predicaments (like impersonating your brother).

The Comedy plotline is great for framing and marketing your evergreen products. Since the big point of The Comedy is "destined to be together" you can show your clients or audience how this is their destiny. It's also a good way to build honest relationships with your audience. Everyone can relate to being oblivious, clumsy and dealing with confusing and awkward situations.

But to be honest, it's probably the weakest link of the bunch.
